The arrival of "AI-controlled" technology: a blessing or a curse?
In his book, *AI Control: The Future of Artificial Intelligence Domination—How Artificial Intelligence Will Redefine Democracy, Society, and Human Rights*, author Dahl Astra presents a forward-looking vision of governance in the age of artificial intelligence and introduces the term "Aiocracy" for the first time. Currently, this concept has not yet garnered widespread attention or discussion in China, so I have translated it into a relatively neutral Chinese expression: "AI Control."

AI Enthusiasts: The Future of Artificial Intelligence Domination – How Artificial Intelligence Will Redefine Democracy, Society, and Human Rights, by Dahl Astra, to be independently published on March 20, 2025.
With keen insight and a captivating narrative, the author attempts to help readers understand the ethical dilemmas brought about by AI: Will AI addicts bring unprecedented fairness, efficiency, and freedom, or will they herald a new era of digital tyranny? The book incorporates thoughtful analysis to help the public understand the concept of "AI addicts" and the profound changes that AI is currently bringing to the intersection of technology and governance.
When discussing this transformative trend, the arrival of the "singularity" is hardly surprising. The author mentions that at this tipping point, artificial intelligence systems will surpass human intelligence through self-improvement. At that time, robots will truly take over the world, and artificial intelligence will render Conflict, poverty, and disease a thing of the past. Against this backdrop, *AI Domination: The Future of Artificial Intelligence* vividly demonstrates the possibility and dangers of entrusting the most critical decisions to algorithms. Through meticulous research and gripping real-world case studies, author Astra reveals how artificial intelligence will influence judicial decisions, economic policies, and even human rights, and charts a path for an uncertain future.
Undeniably, driven by artificial intelligence, some major technological advancements are on the horizon, creating a better future for us. For example, AI can provide reliable advice to more people at a very low cost; it can help us explore treatment options for currently incurable diseases and expand access to reliable medical advice without the need for additional medical experts.
However, in other areas, we should maintain a cautiously pessimistic attitude towards the future development of artificial intelligence. The development of AI may bring potential risks in areas such as the military, personal privacy protection, and employment. Currently, automated weapons are already in use, and in the future, they may possess the ability to autonomously select targets. At the same time, as governments and businesses increasingly acquire big data, personal privacy faces a growing Risk of leakage. Furthermore, as AI gradually takes over more and more daily tasks, many traditional jobs will be replaced, and the nature of work will undergo profound changes. In this context, we may need to explore the possibility of implementing a "universal basic income," which, of course, depends on a sufficient tax base.
Another worrying consequence of artificial intelligence is its potential to replace genuine human interaction. For example, when we call for help, the call is repeatedly transferred through automated voice systems; we cannot communicate with real people or obtain the answers we seek. This lack of human empathy in communication is not only frustrating but can also impair emotional expression. While some believe that natural language processing technology can handle such tasks, in reality, even if AI can recognize words, tone of voice, pauses, or parts of facial expressions, it cannot produce truly appropriate human responses. It might say, "I understand how you feel," or "That's great news," but these words are often empty and meaningless.
Of course, another possibility is for humans to continue playing their roles, while robots serve as auxiliary tools. In reality, many jobs involving physical and emotional care and emotional connection have long been undervalued. Ideally, these jobs will receive more respect and more reasonable compensation in the future. But perhaps this is just wishful thinking.
This is an insightful and provocative must-read, revealing the crossroads humanity is about to face. The future is before us, yet the question remains unresolved: Are we prepared for this situation?
